Trade Rules

This page contains important information about the trade rules. Read through all of the information carefully if you plan to participate in trading in the room.

We facilitate trading in all main series Pokémon games that are currently supported by official Nintendo Online services. This includes all Switch titles.

Reminder: TRADING HACKED OR ILLEGAL POKEMON IS STRICTLY BANNED.

1. You must provide any information about a Pokémon if asked by a member of Staff.

In the event a member of /roomstaff contacts you in regards to a room trade, you are obligated to provide the information requested.

In order to properly investigate trade negotiations, we require all trade deals that were initiated on site to be completed on site. Taking trades to other platforms is unsafe and may result in scams.

You may face punishment if you do not provide information to a staff member when requested, or attempt to circumvent any of the trade rules in any way.

2. You must be able to provide proof for all transactions if proof is required.

Proof is a concept that helps in verifying the legitimacy of high value Pokémon. When negotiating a trade the proof should come from the person trading the Pokémon, not the original obtainer of the Pokémon.

We recommend saving proof links that you recieve in trades if you wish to trade the Pokémon further. The trader and/or original obtainer are not obligated to send proof links again if you did not save them during the original transaction.

Proof Guidelines

3. You may only trade in-game Pokémon, items, or services.
Regarding Codes:

Event distribution codes can be given away for free on a first-come-first-served basis. You may also ask members of the community to redeem codes on your behalf, but be cautious of the potential scam risk involved in doing so.

Regarding Services:

Players may offer services (train, evolve, apply ribbons etc.) for other members of the community. The player offering the service must agree on an expected timeframe that the deal will be completed. Staff members will intervene if a deal is left incomplete after 24 hours have passed.

For services where a reward is offered or evolution help, ensure that you have the reward/resources available to complete the deal promptly. Try to keep your trade partner regularly informed about the progress of the transaction.

Regarding Cloning:

Cloning is considered a service, the only users that are permitted to clone Pokemon for others are the members of the approved cloners team. You may face punishment if you are found to be offering cloning services and are not on the list.

4. Tag your trade post to make people aware of the game you are trying to trade in.

Use tags such as [LGPE] [SwSh] [BDSP] [PLA] [HOME]. We also recommend using a LF (Looking For) and FT (For Trade) format when making a trade post.

Example - LF: Hidden Ability Bulbasaur / FT: Hidden Ability Charmander or Squirtle [SWSH]

5. Multiple-for-one & HOME Trading are discouraged.
Multiple-for-one Trades:

These types of trades are not strictly banned but are considered to be a scam risk. Be aware of the risk involved with accepting these types of deals and consider using a middleman if you have concerns.

You can request for a trusted user to middleman your trade either in private messages or in the main room, trusted users are ranked Voice (+) or above (% @ #).

HOME Trades:

Trading within Pokémon HOME is supported by for Friend Trades only! Though it is still recommended to trade within official main series games where possible. Pokémon obtained from GTS/WT/Group Trades are not allowed to be traded under any circumstances.

6. About WonderCard, event injection & unofficial servers.
Event Injection:

Wonder Card injections in Gen 4-7 titles are permitted under strict conditions. You must be absolutely certain to inject the correct card depending on your game, console and region. If injected correctly this is considered to be the same as recieving a gift legltimately.

Mystery Gift injection of Pokémon in Switch titles is strictly banned. Pokémon obtained via Mystery Gift must be obtained by official means or will be considered illegal.

Mystery Gift injection of items or toggling event flags for Pokémon encounters (e.g BDSP Mythicals & Gen 3 event island encounters) is permitted as the encounter is still generated as intended by the game.

Unofficial Servers:

Unofficial servers may be used to obtain certain things like otherwise unobtainable Ribbons in past generations where online services have been terminated, such as the World Ability Ribbon in DS games.

Using these servers to obtain Pokémon (such as Events, GTS, etc) is still strictly banned and Pokémon obtained using this method that wind up displaying as illegal will result in punishment falling on the head of the obtainer.

7. About save restoration.

Save restores are permitted under the condition that it does not produce an illegal result, such as save restoring over a story altering choice or recapturing legendaries in games where TID/SID RNG abuse is not possible (SwSh | PLA | SV).

In games where TID/SID RNG abuse is possible (BDSP | Gen 7 or earlier), you may use save restoration to capture the same legendary more than once or for a story altering choice.

Example of permitted use: Using a save restore to catch a legendary more than once in GBA games.

Example of banned use: Using save restores to capture Regidrago when Regieleki has already been caught on the same save file.

8. All forms of seed injection are strictly BANNED in this room.

RNG seed injection is banned in all cases. You must not attempt to inject or edit seeds to achieve a result faster. This will be considered the same as self-hacking a Pokémon. We enforce a 0 tolerance for seed injection offenses.

Abusing save restoration to re-use egg seeds in 3DS games is disallowed, and will be treated the same way as seed injection. However, re-using initial seeds on GBA/DS/3DS games for other encounter types is permitted.

9. Once you trade a Pokémon away you lose control over it.

Do not attempt to control what a user does with a Pokémon you have traded to them. It is their Pokémon now and the Pokémon you traded for is yours.

10. Do not attempt to expose someone in the chat for a trade rule violation.

Report the violation to a member of /roomstaff and we will handle it accordingly. Do not post public blacklists.

Contact a member of Staff in private messages if you have any questions or concerns about any of the Trade Rules.

Can I trade this Pokémon?

Whether you can trade a Pokémon or not depends on how the Pokémon was obtained, and how it ended up in your hands. Find the situation that best applies to you in the list below:

I caught, claimed or hatched it myself. ✅

Pokémon obtained through regular gameplay on an official, unmodified game can be traded in the room. Be sure to check the Proof Guidelines to see if it needs proof.

Cloning Pokémon are allowed if done properly (i.e producing an exact copy of a Pokémon), properly cloned Pokémon are no different to the original entity.

I RNG abused or used a bot to automate this encounter. ✅

RNG abuse is permitted due to the Pokémon being generated and spawned by the game. RNG abuse in a nutshell is using knowledge of how the game generates Pokémon to your advantage in order to achieve a desirable result.

Cute Charm RNG abuse in past generation games is permitted as this takes advantage of standard TID/SID RNG abuse to achieve a result.

Botting or automation is also permitted, this uses an automated routine in order to force a specific encounter, such as a Shiny Pokemon. Generally speaking automating encounters is no different from playing the game as intended.

Someone traded it to me/I won a Giveaway in the Wi-Fi room, it came with proof. ✅

Chances are this Pokémon can be traded, contact a member of Room Staff if you are uncertain/suspicious about a Pokémon you have received in room trades or giveaways.

The Pokémon was obtained in a Raid, Union Circle or other multiplayer setting. 😐

Pokémon obtained in multiplayer environments (i.e Max Raids, Tera Raids, Union Circles, etc.) are allowed to be traded if the source/host is a member of PS! Wi-Fi.
Try to keep in mind exactly who the host was in the event that staff require further information about the Pokémon.

If the host is a member of a different community or a passerby, trading the Pokémon is disallowed, this is due to these types of environments being a large source of hacks.

Trading eggs in Gen 8 or 9 games is subject to certain rules, below you can see the different types of scenarios which are allowed and disallowed in these generations/games. Some types of eggs are not allowed to be traded at all.

Disallowed ❌:
  • Any Shiny Egg
  • 6IV Event/Limited distribution Egg (example: BDSP Manaphy Egg)
  • Any Link Trade origin Egg (including Pokémon hatched from such Eggs)
Allowed ✅:
  • Non-Shiny self-obtained Eggs

If your egg is Shiny and self-obtained, then make sure to hatch the Pokémon inside before trading it around.

It is a rare event from Gen 3. 😐

The only event Pokémon from generation 3 that can be traded are those that come from items, such as Old Sea Map Mew and Pokémon encountered from boat tickets. Otherwise, these Pokémon cannot be traded in the room.

I altered the RAM state to achieve a result faster. 😐

Altering counters or timers is permitted as long as the Pokémon is generated as intended by the game. You will be held responsible if you create any illegal Pokémon as a result of values in the game RAM.

Permitted use includes, but is not limited to:
  1. Step counters (such as the amount of steps required to generate an egg in the Day Care).
  2. Chain length (such as editing PokeRadar chain length to apply bonuses).
  3. Timer duration (such as editing the wait time needed before a Distortion will spawn in Legends: Arceus).

If you edited chain lengths or timers to achieve a result, this should be noted during the trade to make sure the receiver is aware, this is what is known as "full disclosure". This can be noted in private messages, on trade sheets, or in Giveaway forms.

The Pokémon was cloned using an unaffiliated SysBot. 😐

Cloning using SysBots is permitted, under the assumption that the internal details of the Pokémon are not altered in any way as a result of using one.

If you are found to be cloning using "bad" SysBots that alter Pokémon data, you may be punished up to a room Blacklist as a result of doing so. PS! Wi-Fi are not affiliated with any bot hosts!

Consider using our approved cloning service instead, or speak with the owner of the bot and ensure that no data is being altered before using it to avoid creating hacked Pokémon unintentionally.

This Pokémon was obtained by an in-game glitch or exploit. ❌

Any Pokémon obtained by glitches that alter Pokémon data are banned from trading in the Wi-Fi room, this includes but is not limited to:

  1. 8F, Coin Case and Mimic exploits in Virtual Console.
  2. This includes: Any Pokémon chat was obtained via any of the above mentioned glitches, ALL Pokémon obtained this way are considered illegal/hacked, no exceptions.

  3. Any form of Arbitrary Code Execution (ACE) abuse in any other game.
  4. This includes: Any Pokémon that was obtained via Arbitrary Code Execution abuse, ALL Pokémon obtained this way are considered illegal/hacked, no exceptions.

  5. Glitches or exploits that result in otherwise unreleased/unobtainable Pokémon.
  6. This includes but is not limited to: Void Glitches (Diamond/Pearl), Union Circle exploits (Scarlet/Violet).

  7. Pokémon from fangames, modified game cartridges and event distribution cartridges.
  8. This includes: Any Pokémon obtained via the above mentioned methods, these are considered to be obtained by unofficial means and are therefore banned from trading in any capacity.

  9. Pokémon obtained from Menu Glitches in Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl.
  10. This includes: Any Pokémon chat was obtained via menu glitching, ALL Pokémon obtained this way are considered illegal/hacked, no exceptions.

The Pokémon was achieved by RNG seed injection. ❌

As stated in Trade Rule 8, RNG seed injection is banned and there is a 0 tolerance policy for users found injecting seeds.

Abusing save restoration to re-use egg seeds in 3DS games is disallowed, and will be treated the same way as seed injection. However, re-using initial seeds on GBA/DS/3DS games for other encounter types is permitted.

I got it from a streamer or a stranger. ❌

If you recieved a Pokemon via a Streamer Giveaway, a passerby trade with a stranger, GTS/GWS/Wonder Trade, or HOME GTS/Room Trade, you may NOT trade this Pokémon in the room!

The majority of "good" Pokémon from these places are hacked. Trading these Pokémon will result in a ban.

I got it from a friend/relative, a used game, eBay, or another trading community. ❌

Do not trade Pokémon purchased from other websites here as most of them will end up being hacked. If you plan to trade Pokémon that have been obtained from another community, do so at your own risk as you will be held responsible if they come to our attention as being hacked Pokémon.

A user gave me legendaries, shinies, etc. for free in PMs. ❌

Inform a member of Room Staff immediately! If a deal sounds too good to be true, it probably is. There is a high chance that these types of Pokémon will turn up hacked.

Do not ask or bait users into trading you suspicious Pokémon, it is permitted to go through with an offered trade of a suspicious Pokémon if your intention is to inform a member of Room Staff afterwards.

Unofficial Giveaways are also strictly banned. All Giveaways are required to follow the Giveaway Rules.

I genned or hacked this Pokémon. ❌

Please let staff know that you are trying to trade a self-hacked Pokémon so you can be banned from the room forever. Thanks!
