3DS Proof Guidelines

This page contains information and examples for how to create proof for your Pokémon in (Ultra) Sun/Moon, Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire & X/Y to an acceptable standard for general trading in PS! Wi-Fi. Only information for the above mentioned games is provided on this page.

Important Information:
Proofing Tips:

Make sure to check out the list of untradable Pokémon to ensure that your Pokémon can be traded inside the Wi-Fi room to begin with.

IV Judge:

We advise unlocking the IV judge function before attempting to prove a Pokémon, this is the strongest and most effective method of proving the IVs in-game.

  1. In XYORAS, the judge function is an NPC located in-game who will manually check the stats of your Pokémon.
  2. Sun/Moon/USUM, the PC judge function can be unlocked by speaking to an NPC in the Battle Tree after hatching 21 eggs.

IV Judge Alternatives:

CFW Alternatives:
  • 3rd party reader applications.
  • Examples Include: PCalc, PokeReader, Bots.
Vanilla Alternatives:
  • Showdown! Teambuilder output.
  • Online IV calculator.
  • When using either of these methods the IVs must be exact values or the proof will be considered invalid. Leveling your Pokémon to 100 using candies will provide the exact IV values.

3DS Overall Requirement:

Pokémon obtained in the above mentioned 3DS titles that meet the description of anything listed directly below need proof to trade inside the PS! Wi-Fi room.

Pokémon obtained from Wild & Static Encounters / Gift Redemptions:

Encounters with 0 guaranteed IVs
  • 3 IV+ shiny Pokémon
  • 4 IV+ non-shiny Pokémon
Encounters with 3 guaranteed IVs
  • 5 IV+ shiny Pokémon
  • 6 IV non-shiny Pokémon

Pokémon obtained from SOS Chain Encounters (SM/USUM):

  • 5 IV+ Pokémon
  • Shiny Pokémon from 1% chance SOS calls

Pokémon obtained from Friend Safari or DexNav Encounters (XY/ORAS):

  • 5 IV+ shiny Pokémon
  • 6 IV non-shiny Pokémon
  • Shiny Pokémon from 1% chance spawns

Pokémon obtained from Event Distributions:

Distributions with 0 guaranteed IVs
  • 4 IV+ non-shiny/shiny Pokémon
Distributions with 3 guaranteed IVs
  • 6 IV non-shiny/shiny Pokémon
Other
  • Nicknamed Event Pokémon made possible by RNGing matching trainer information
  • "Sometimes Shiny" Shiny Event Pokémon (e.g Lunar Magikarp)
  • Shiny Event Egg Pokémon obtained via TSV hatching/trading (e.g PC Tokyo Egg Events)

Shiny Pokémon obtained from Eggs via TSV hatching:

  • Shiny Pokémon obtained via trading an Egg, with the purpose of hatching it shiny by matching the Egg's ESV value to a TSV value require proof.
  • For TSV hatched Pokémon you must provide a screenshot of the conversation between the two users agreeing on a TSV hatch, with the hatcher's OT visible or stated in some manner.

Untradable Pokémon

The following Pokémon cannot be traded in the Wi-Fi room at all:

3DS to Pokémon HOME transfer specifics:
  • Shiny Pokémon that were transferred from 3DS to HOME that qualify for the Jumbo OR Teensy mark when transferred to Scarlet/Violet.
  • Legendary & Mythical Pokémon that were transferred from 3DS to HOME that qualify for the Jumbo OR Teensy mark when transferred to Scarlet/Violet.

Note: The Jumbo/Teensy mark rule is in place due to a lack of an effective method of proving these types of Pokémon.

Gen 6 & 7 Proofing

This section of the page covers how to create proof for Pokémon obtained in Gen 6 and Gen 7 (3DS) titles. In all cases, your PS! Username must be visible somewhere within your proof link so that we can easily verify exactly where the Pokémon has come from.

Obtained in XY/ORAS or SM/USUM:

If you are using Overlays or Citra for RNG abuse you must provide:

  • For Encounters, a screenshot of you hitting your target frame (i.e at Menu hovering over the Bag for Wild; or Before last A press/movement for Statics) and a screenshot of the encounter initiation (i.e the “Pokémon appeared!” screen or similar).
  • For Redemptions, a screenshot of you hitting your target frame (i.e “Player received Pokémon!” screen) and a screenshot after Redemption of the Gift or Event mon (i.e “Pokémon was added to your party.” screen or similar).
Overlays or scripts must be visible in all of the above mentioned screenshots to prove the correct target frame has been hit.
  • A screenshot of the Pokémon Summary displaying both the stats and OT/TID of the Pokémon that was obtained (preferred) or your Trainer Card/Passport.
In the case of event redemptions/gifts with a fixed OT, the above mentioned screenshot is not required. This only applies to events that take the players trainer information, including traded event eggs.
  • A screenshot of the tool used to RNG abuse the Pokémon. You must show your Seed and desired target frame along with any other specific configurations used.
Sensitive details can be partially blurred on every screenshot (no more than half!)
  • If TinyFinder or 3DSTimeFinder were used to manipulate the Initial Seed on Citra, screenshot(s) of the tool output that displays Frame, Seed, SaveParameter (Gen6 with TinyFinder), Time & Date.

For soft resetting and retail RNG abuse you must provide:

  • A full uncut video starting from a successful capture or redemption of your Pokémon leading into the in-box summary screens clearly showing the Stats, Nature, Ability, and OT/TID.
  • A screenshot of the tool used to RNG abuse the Pokémon. You must show your Seed and desired target frame along with any other specific configurations used. Sensitive details can be partially blurred on every screenshot (no more than half!)
  • A picture of your Trainer Card/Passport showing your OT/TID combination.
